Transferring data between smart phones is a subject that would probably be taken lightly by people. In most cases, one may not appreciate the need for data transfer between smart phones. What if your current Windows Phone handset developed a malfunction or you simply bought a new one? Would you sit down, write all the files manually, and then begin copying them onto the new phone? Certainly not. In such a case, you would appreciate the need to transfer data from your old phone to the new one.

Data transfer between smart phones sounds fairly easy, yet it may not. The methods used for data transfer between phones actually depend on the smart phones between which you need to make a data transfer. The complication arises from the fact that an iPhone, a Windows phone or an Android phone, all have their technical capabilities, different from each other. Some common methods include sharing data over Dropbox; email transfer; use of AirDrop feature and sharing via Bluetooth.

The Bluetooth capability for instance is integrated within a wide range of smart phones. However, while an Android phone may support Bluetooth functionality, an iPhone may not. Nearly all the Windows-operated smart phones do not support the Bluetooth capability. The universally applicable method of data transfer across smart phones is email. It is all about initializing the email application on your smart phone, attaching whatever file you want to transfer, and sending it to the intended recipient.

How to transfer data from Windows Phone to iPhone:

Contacts, calendar and mail

1. Create Windows Phone account on your iPhone through settings, selecting mail, contacts, and calendar.

2. Click Microsoft Exchange, and use the Windows Live set up to create your account.

3. Enter your suggested email address in the server field, and then wait for data to be synchronized into the operating system.

Images, music and other data

Use Dropbox or SkyDrive application available on the Windows Phone, or alternatively downloading it in the case of iPhones. Use Windows Phone app for computers.

The phone application enables browsing of files and manually copying them.

Steps to follow:

1. Connect the Windows Phone to the computer by using a USB data cable.

2. Open the Windows Phone application, and click "browse device" on the windows side bar.

3. Select data to copy. Drag and drop or click import selected items to copy files.

When all files are copied on to the computer, they will automatically be synchronized to the iPhone when it is connected to the computer.

With the advent of technology, you no longer have to worry about the bulk of data like contacts, music, or any other files that need to be transferred from one phone to the other. Actually, there is alternative to the methods above which is much easier than those as well. That is to use a third-party desktop application - Vibosoft Mobile Transfer.
