If you are looking to buy a new phone you will know that Apple and Android are constantly competing against each other for the next best phone model. This article compares the latest models of the two smart phone brands on different features and points. Let's see how the Samsung Galaxy S5 compares to the iPhone 6.

Design:

Samsung and Apple have both chosen to go with different designs for their latest models. Apple has chosen a smooth seamless design of metal and glass whereas Samsung has gone for a soft touch plastic with hard metal style edges. The iPhone 6 has a much sleeker sophisticated look compared to the Samsung Galaxy. The Samsung Galaxy also has a scratch resistant back making it last and last when compared to the Apple which easily scratches both front and back.

The iPhone is thinner than the Galaxy with a slim 2mm body compared to the 5mm body of the Samsung. The Galaxy has an easy-to-handle grip rubber back unlike the iPhone which is slippery to hold and one slip away from dropping. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is also water-resistant making it a great choice if you like to use your phone in the bath or near water. It can also survive if dropped into water for up to 30 minutes.

Screen:

Both the Samsung and the iPhone have stunning screens but both use different technologies to achieve this. The Galaxy S5 uses full HD resolution to display 1920 x 1080 and 432 pixels per inch. The Samsung features AMOLED screen which means you can watch dark scenes in films without any contrast issues. Although the AMOLED screens can make the colors look a little bit artificial.

The iPhone 6 has opted to use a UPS LCD screen instead. This is bright and lifelike and the color accuracy is sharp and clear. Color accuracy is good on both models however the iPhone 6 has a slightly clearer screen resolution.

The Samsung has a huge 5.2-inch screen that stretches across the 142mm by 72.5mm body. This makes it easy to use even for those with smaller hands. The iPhone 6 is easier to use with one hand but users of the earlier 5 or 5S model will notice a much larger screen than before. If you want to use your phone to watch movies, play games or browse the internet then the Samsung’s larger screen will make for better viewing.

Software:

The iPhone 6 uses Apple's latest iOS 8 update and the Samsung Galaxy runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. iOS 8 is a huge step forwards from Apple's iOS 7 updated whereas the latest Android update is not quite big compared to Android's biggest Ice Cream Sandwich update.

The Android update features the TouchWiz layer design which can be slow but does have some great additions including clever multi-tasking features and a redesigned notification tray. The update also allows all notifications to be seen from the lock screen, a lot like the iOS system.

iOS 8 is a whole lot smoother and easier than Lollipop and has far fewer problems or glitches. The only problem is the speed as opening apps can be slower as with browsing the web. This can be annoying but it's still very easy to use and the performance overall is much better on iOS.

Camera:

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 16 megapixel camera with a 1.12 pixel size, compared to the iPhone 6 which has an 8 megapixel camera with 1/3 inch sensor and a 1.5 pixel size. Both cameras are great and the colors are realistic and accurate on both models. When it came to sharpness of photos the Samsung comes up tops but due to the AMOLED technology the colors can sometimes look a bit un-realistic. The 16 megapixel zoom feature on the Samsung is powerful however we have found that 8 megapixel zoom on the iPhone is also more than sufficient.

Overall when comparing the Samsung Galaxy with iPhone it's clear that both models are top notch. Both have useful features and great battery life. Both have powerful cameras that can take professional level photographs and the new software on both makes them a joy to use. The phones are both great models and it would be tough to make a decision between the two. When choosing a new smart phone you would need to take into account your own personal preferences as they are both great choices. Now, I will tell you how to transfer files from Samsung Galaxy to iPhone.
